The Essex Metropolitan Netball League ( Essex Met ) is an Essex based netball league consisting of more than 88 netball teams and hundreds of players, helping girls and Women of all ages. Essex Met consists of 5 boroughs; Redbridge, Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Newham and Waltham Forest. The Essex Met League ( main league ) and junior league games are played at the Redbridge Sports Centre and have teams and clubs from all over London and the South East.
The league is run by a committee which comprises of a group of volunteers who give their time to the league and care passionately about netball at all levels. The committee meets once a month to discuss all netball matters that may arise from members, as well as development at Regional and National levels. As with recent technological trends Essex Met wanted to be able to relate to players, coaches and their audience in the digital age.
Subsequently, it can be seen that Essex Met would need a sophisticated internet medium to help achieve this. As games were being played and rosters changing it was essential to have a site that could be updated as regularly as required and also with comparative ease.
As with most recent web projects a responsive ( mobile friendly and compatible ) website was first on the list of options to be implemented.
It was also important to be able to make changes as required during the netball season. The following features were incorporated :
- Dynamic database driven website
- Ability to list schedules and Netball fixtures
- Construction of web content to enable keyword approval and search engine acceptability
- Search engine compatibility of the website
- Ability to showcase pictures and details of events
